So a few weeks ago I made the journey from Wemyss Bay to Elgin on the Friday afternoon where I was staying overnight, I wanted to come up on the Friday so I could nip up to Brodie Castle in the evening and do a good recce around the grounds for Saturday’s wedding. I met Emma & Craig at the Castle and had a little tour around the buildings and grounds.
Up early on the Saturday and a short drive to the Castle from Elgin in glorious weather. I met up with the boys who were staying at a B&B just off the grounds of the castle for some informal prep photos.
The wedding service itself was held in the open under an archway of trees and with the sunlight beaming through it was stunning. I then spent time with Emma and the girls capturing the preparations and all the details inc the dress in the Castle itself. During this I nipped back and forth to photograph the boys now fully kilted up in the grounds.
I really don’t think Emma & Craig could have got a better day as Emma came down the aisle with her dad it made for great photos. Great thing about being outside was I had plenty of room to walk about and around the service without getting too close, it was perfect.
After the service I like to give my Bride & Grooms a bit of time with their guests before I take them away for their photos. We made use of the wonderful gardens so I just let Emma & Craig walk the gardens while I stood off and captured some nice candid shots of them both. I also did some formal poses and to finish off in front of the castle.
I then let the Bride & Groom go to mingle with their guests while I wandered around taking candids of the guests then into the marquee for some details shots of the cake and all the little details on the tables. After the speeches it was time for my break as well while the guest got their meal served.
In the evening I like to spend the first 4 or 5 dance getting photos of the Bride & Groom and also the guests having fun and to round off my day I took Emma & Craig away for 30 mins for some evening photos now it was nice and dark outside.
So that was me finished, my lodgings for the night were literally at the end of the Castle drive in a B&B….perfect 🙂
As a wedding photographer , it a location you dream of having in your portfolio and I was honoured Emma & Craig choose me to photograph their big day, I personally had a great time.
